Some believe that cameras steal the souls of anyone who is caught in a photograph.  You probably wouldn't want anyone taking pictures of your significant other if this is something you subscribe to.  It's reasonable to worry about your relationship!  No one wants to be in a soulless marriage!

Fortunately, there are ways to guard against having your soul stolen by cameras.  What you take photos of, where you take them, and how you take them are all important factors for keeping your soul intact and housed within your worldly body.  Don't be like the couple shown in the photo above; their souls were obviously drained away and stored into someone's Panasonic FH20.

You should never, never, look directly into the camera. The eyes are the windows into the soul and by looking into the camera you are essentially opening these windows for thieves to crawl in and grab your HDTV and Playstation 3. However, you shouldn't try and obscure line of sight between your eyes and the camera either. Do not use your hands to block your face or anything like that because it only draws attention to yourself and makes the camera suspicious of your actions.

Secondly, don't wear or be near any reflective surfaces like mirrors or shiny, metallic objects.  If the camera catches a glimpse of itself in the photograph, it will be reminded of its own mortality and grow more desperate in its hunt for souls.  Not very many people realize that cameras feed on souls; it's not very well understood but it's a proven fact.  You do not want a hungry camera on the loose so I suggest you take this "guideline" very seriously.

Another important thing to keep in mind is that the camera is always watching.  Just because it isn't actually taking a picture doesn't mean it's completely inert.  That is not to say that is always at 100% awareness, paying attention to every little detail it lays its lens on.  It is only during the act of taking a photograph does its attention level peak. It is at a much more relaxed state at other times, and won't notice most things.  However, if you do something really wild, rambunctious, loud, or whatever, then you risk arousing the camera from its stupor.  Just calm yourself down, mate!

Speaking of mates, always make sure you are making physical contact with your significant other while having your photograph taken.  This allows both of your soul defenses to work in tandem instead of relying soully on your own personal sole defense.  Put your arm around their shoulders or waist.  Or maybe try putting your hands around their neck (the neck is one of the most exposed areas of the human body through which the soul is most vulnerable).  There are just so many places that couples can touch each other that this shouldn't be a problem.

One last major thing before I head back to the labs: always make sure you're taking a picture of something interesting in the background.  Location is important for real estate and it's important for photography as well.  Having something interesting in the background (or even foreground) will diffuse the camera's focus and attention, lowering the amount of soul defense you'll need to keep yourself safe.  It's a simple rule but not often followed!

Disclaimer: these rules were formulated from current research, it may not always be up-to-date so be sure to check your online photo books and digital scrapbooks for the latest information.
